Power Update

by @ 8:15 pm. Filed under General

I have had power for a full 24 hours now, so I think it’s here to stay. We are slated for 6 - 12 inches of snow, so I don’t know how long my power will be around. My water line has been shut off for repair, as my neighbor has a serious leak and we’re all on one line.

Deluxemom still has no power, nor do the neighbors behind me. Naturally, I’m dealing with quite a bit right now — I have to get ready to switch cars and learn a standard (any of you ladies stick drivers?), along with getting my car cleaned and my house fixed up a touch.

DG should be running on eight cylinders by early February. I honestly am trying to get things consistent around here, but I do blame the storm :)

Stay luxuriously deluxe, gals!

Powerless, but still fashionable

by @ 11:25 am. Filed under General

I don’t know if it’s been on national news, but Missouri’s got a little bit of a weather problem right now. Springfield (where I & Mr. Deluxe live) currently has very few places with power — I’m actually at one of the few places that do.

My house, along with Deluxemom’s, has no power. It’s been Day 3 of the Power Outage of 2007 series, and I hope this is the last day. I also have to check to see if I need to run into my J.O.B and work today (I doubt it).

Keep all of us in your thoughts, people. Though, if it helps, I’m wearing the most awesomest sweater and peasant skirt (with nice warm black pants-rolled-up-slightly) ever.

Yes, I’m fashionable — even in the middle of a state emergency zone.

An Eye on “Ugly Betty”

by @ 11:44 am. Filed under General, Social Issues, Random Gushing, TV

Whoa! I didn’t know that America Ferrera, the star of Ugly Betty, was apart of Real Women Have Curves. I’m watching Live With Regis & Kelly, and my eye can’t stop following Ms. Ferrera! For one, she actually looks stunning — with this kinda imperfect hourglass figure that I absolutely adore.

I’ve only seen one ep of “Ugly Betty”, and I absolutely loved it. It amuses me that the whole premise of the show is that this woman is hired so that the boss won’t sleep with her. I’d definitely have my eye of “Ugly Betty”, and her real-life alter ego :)

The wit, grace, charm, and beauty that radiates from Ms. Ferrera’s character makes me warm and toasty, while being angry and bitchy at the same time. The women who are supposedly “hot” on the show are (to me, at least) the ugliest people I’ve ever seen!

Now I’m going to wander off and grab all the previous ep’s. *grin* Are y’all watching this show? Tell me your thoughts — we are the viewers!

One Heck of an Outfit

by @ 12:00 am. Filed under Fashion, General, Stores, Random Gushing

Wouldn’t it be cool if life looked as spicy, exotic and breathlessly carefree as this outfit? That’s what I was thinking too.

I’m in love with red, to the point where close family & friends can practically bet their child’s college fund on the probability of me wearing red at least twice a week, if not more so. They’d make a killing, I swear. Cheap jokes aside, I like red because it can mean just about anything, but my favorite color wakes up all the right emotions: feelings of power, of attraction, of femininity. This is a color not to be messed up.

I like that the shirt has the ruching where it counts — a shirt that sexy can’t dare go out in public without drawing attention!

Red and black share scary-perfect harmony here as well, but I’m biased: I’m a huge fan of black pants. My worst nightmare is my closet launching a massive coup and ruling the world, one pair of wide-legged palazzo pants at a time.

The outfit, the outfit, the mighty mighty outfit. Roar.

The most fashionable accessory in the world

by @ 4:58 pm. Filed under General, Admin, Life

…is your confidence. I’ve said that repeatedly, but today, I want to talk about one of the biggest sources of my confidence: Mr. Deluxe, my lovely fiance. Today, January 3rd, 2007, marks our first anniversary. Today was the day that we actually decided to go out.

I don’t talk about Mr. Deluxe often — but without him, Reversia Media wouldn’t quite be the same. I’d have to handle all that financial hoopla on my own, and the IRS is scary enough to need two hands, not one. His financial powers are amazing — I couldn’t ask for a better accountant.

When I’m sad, I have him to tell me that it’s OK to be sad, but things will get better.
When I’m angry, he has a hard time not laughing at me (the whole “you’re cute when you’re mad” thing)
When I’m having a terrible day, he has a way of making me laugh.
When I’m serious, he knows that it’s time to take massive action.

As a marketer, I couldn’t ask for a better asset to my plans. As a woman, I couldn’t ask for a better friend, nor could I ask for a better man. As a fashionista, I couldn’t ask for a better….cap on my finances? Without you, I probably would have bought far more than I could ever afford!

This year hasn’t been the best for me, but you rode it through with a quiet peace that I know comes from within.

I’m a professional, but today, I have to stand in front of all of you and tell you my joy — having Lee in my life makes me a well-rounded (hah!) person, in more ways than one. I thank God everyday for bringing me a man that accepts me at every point in my life.

Thank you, Lee. Happy Anniversary!

(and yes, I’m going out tonight, so you’ll have to wait for more DG excitement!)
